Kentucky Derby 2024 will be a star-studded affair. Boasting a legacy of 150 years, the Kentucky Derby is the second oldest Grade 1 stakes race run in the United States of America. Inaugurated way back in 1875, the derby has gone on to garner the most viewership and attendance in all of the US. Every year, on the first Saturday of May, Thoroughbreds, Fillies, and Colts who are three years of age, run at the Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. 

But this year, things will get just a tad bit grand. Celebrating its 150th year, the event will feature a star-studded guest list. It will include the likes of Kid Rock, Tracy Morgan, Tina Knowles, Aaron Rodgers, and many others. However, the NFL star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers once grabbed the headlines for a very weird reason. 

Aaron Rodgers was once trolled for his fashion choices 

Aaron Rodgers was in the middle of a light-hearted controversy when he attended the Kentucky Derby Eve Gala three years back. His dressing sense quickly caught the attention of the fans and they made some hilarious comparisons. One particular post on X got the most number of traffic. Sharing a picture of Rodgers, the tweet read, “Aaron Rodgers looks like he’s at the Kentucky Derby to arrest Tom Brady.” 

And quite surprisingly, most of the fans aligned with a similar narrative. The post received 100,000 likes and close to 12000 retweets. As Rodgers makes a return to the event, fans cannot help but remember his peculiar dressing style from 2021. Speaking of this year’s gala, the 34-year-old event is scheduled for May 3, Friday, at 8 pm.

Together with all the noted dignitaries every year, the gala has successfully raised a sum of more than $20 million till now, over the period of the last 34 years. According to reports, the entire sum gets donated towards the welfare of patients at the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center. Meanwhile, coming back to Rodgers, the clouds of uncertainties surrounding him are far from being cleared.

Aaron Rodgers’ sad inclusion to the Jets

Aaron Rodgers was in the middle of a huge controversy back in 2023. After playing for the Packers from 2005 to 2022, he decided to make a switch to explore new possibilities. Although the deal was done back in 2022, Rodgers had a sad start to his new club. After appearing in a few matches, Rodgers picked up a nasty injury. And that resulted in his sit-out for the rest of the season. 

Reflecting on the raging controversy, the then Packers’ head coach, Matt LaFleur opined, “I can’t fathom [him] not being in Green Bay…That’s where my mind’s at. I don’t only love the player, but I love the person. I love working with him on a daily basis; I think we all do — from the players in that locker room to the coaching staff. Again, I don’t even want to let my mind go there.” Thus, with so much controversy surrounding Rodgers, it is now time for him to enthrall the Jets’ fans this year to establish his NFL legacy further.
