Shahrukh Khan has spoken about his role for Gujarat Titans while also opening up on how Ashish Nehra operates as the head coach of the side. The GT batsman did not mention Shubman Gill’s role in the team.

The right-handed batsman plied his trade for Punjab Kings in the last three seasons of the IPL.  Last season, he played all the 14 league games for the Punjab-based outfit and managed to score a modest 156 runs although he scored those runs at a strike-rate of more than 165. Before the IPL 2024 auction, PBKS decided to release the Tamil Nadu batter to free up Rs 9 crores.

In the auction, Gujarat Titans went all out for him and signed him for Rs 7.4 crores. However, he is yet to make an impact on the team so far in the ongoing IPL 2024. While GT have played eight games so far, he has managed to play only three of them. In those three games, he scored 14, 0 and 8.

The hard-hitting batsman will be hoping to regain his form soon and start contributing for GT as they look to string together a series of wins to bolster their playoff chances. And Shahrukh Khan is well aware of that.

Speaking before the game against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (April 24), he stated that his role in the team is to make an impact and he is keen to do so. He also opened up on the challenges faced by someone like him who hardly gets the time to settle down.

“Last match was the first time I was in the proper XI, Rahul Tewatia was our hero, I did hit one six off Rabada, I wanted to stay till the end, but I’m happy that we won the game. T20 is all about impact performances, there are players who take the team ahead, my role is to create as much impact as I can to the team.

“I cannot prepare for any situation, at 3, you know that you can go out to bat in the first 8-10 overs, but at my position, you don’t know how many balls you’ll get, it could be just 1 or 2, so you’ll have to react to the situation, be calculative and help the team go past the line,” he added.

Shahrukh Khan on working with Ashish Nehra:

Shahrukh Khan was further asked about his time with Gujarat Titans and playing under Ashish Nehra. In reply, the 28-year-old said that he has been enjoying his time with the Gujarat-based outfit before revealing how Nehra operates.

“Really good (on his time with Gujarat Titans), everyone knows about Ashish Nehra, he calls the shots here, watching from outside (when he wasn’t part of the franchise), I admired how he handled situations. He lets us be relaxed and not stress ourselves, it’s a chilled atmosphere in the team,” said Shahrukh Kham
