Caitlin Clark took a chance to thank her Iowa teammates, coaches and fans following an 87-75 loss to undefeated South Carolina in the National Championship game.
Widely projected to be the first-overall pick in next week’s WNBA Draft, Clark noted that it was an honour to wear the Hawkeye uniform the last four years.
“Words cannot express my love for my teammates, coaches, fans and our university,” Clark said Sunday in a statement on X. “Thanks for making my dreams come true. Wearing Iowa across my chest the last four years has been an honor. This place will always be home.”
The back-to-back AP Player of the Year declared for the draft back in February, marking this season as her last in Iowa City.
Clark leaves as the highest-scoring player in NCAA history, breaking “Pistol” Pete Maravich’s record in March by recording her 3,685th point.
After scoring 30 points in the championship game, Clark ends her college career with 3,951.
The Indiana Fever hold the first-overall pick in the draft, which is set to be held on April 15.
