The women’s NCAA tournament ended with Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks winning their third title since 2017, capping off an undefeated season as champions.
SC withstood a massive first quarter from Caitlin Clark, who scored 18 points (the most in a championship game quarter) as they fought back and pulled away in the second half and avenged a Final Four loss to Iowa from last year’s tournament.
Staley is just the fifth women’s college coach with three titles and the Gamecocks are the 10th women’s title team to go undefeated.
